Just outside the city, Cherskogo Hill gives the best panoramic view over Yakutsk and the Lena valley. On a clear day you can see the city's grid of low buildings and the wide flat plain of the river stretching to the horizon.
There is a small park at the top, an eternal flame, and a stylised arch. It is a short drive or a thirty-minute taxi ride from the centre, and is normally combined with a visit to the Permafrost Kingdom nearby.
