Lake Bohinj is built for the outdoors. The lake itself is a four-kilometre stretch of cold, clear water held in a basin of limestone walls and forested ridges, with a handful of small villages strung along its shores. Beyond the water you can hike into the Triglav National Park, climb up onto the Vogel plateau by cable car, walk to the Savica waterfall, or take a low-stress paddle on a rented kayak. In winter the same plateau becomes one of Slovenia's best-value ski areas.
