The casino at the Grand Hotel Bernardin is one of the larger gambling venues in Slovenia and draws a mixed crowd of serious players and curious tourists. Even if the tables don't appeal, the bar inside the casino is open late and well-stocked — a useful option when the seafront cafes have closed. The hotel complex itself is worth a look regardless: it was built during the Habsburg resort era and retains some of the grand proportions of that period, with a colonnaded seafront terrace that is striking even by Adriatic standards.
