Portorož's bar scene is concentrated along the seafront promenade and in the small streets just behind it. The resort character of the town means the options are reliable if not especially daring — aperitivo culture from over the Italian border has made inroads, and an evening Aperol spritz or a glass of local Refošk red wine on a promenade terrace is a genuinely pleasant way to watch the Adriatic light fade. The casino at the Grand Hotel Bernardin draws a late-night crowd.
