Eating Out

The cuisine of Portorož sits squarely in the Istrian tradition: fresh Adriatic seafood, local Malvazija white wine, Istrian olive oil (which has won international prizes), and the occasional whiff of truffle from the forests a short drive inland. The fish market in the centre of town is the best indicator of what is local and in season. Restaurants here are noticeably cheaper than their equivalents across the bay in Trieste or further down the Croatian coast, and the quality is generally high.
