Bodegas Lustau is one of the classic sherry names in Jerez, and its cellars make a good introduction to the city's wine culture without having to leave the centre. The bodega is known for its cathedral-like storage halls, rows of dark barrels, and a range that covers fino, oloroso, amontillado, vermouth, and brandy.
Visits are guided and usually end with a tasting, so it works best if you book ahead rather than just turning up between other sights. The appeal is partly architectural and partly liquid: even if you are only mildly curious about sherry, the tour explains why Jerez smells faintly of old wood, flor yeast, and wine whenever you duck into the older streets.
