The 16th-century church on Plaza de la Iglesia is Marbella's most important historic building. Built on the site of the old main mosque after the Reconquista, it has a late-Baroque façade in red ochre and white and an elaborate gilded altarpiece inside. The plaza itself is pleasant and usually quieter than the better-known Plaza de los Naranjos a block away.
