Beyond the beaches and the marina scene, Marbella has more history than you might expect. The old town around Plaza de los Naranjos is the loveliest core — start there, then wander out to Puerto Banús to see the yachts, or drive inland to Ronda for a proper day out. The Roman villa at Río Verde and the paleochristian basilica at San Pedro de Alcántara are reminders that Marbella has been lived in for a long time.
