Torre del Mar Beach

Two kilometres of grey-gold sand, the town's defining feature

Torre del Mar's beach runs for about two kilometres along the full length of the town, backed by the Paseo Marítimo. It is wide — 50 to 80 metres of grey-gold sand — with calm, clear water sheltered from Atlantic swells by the headlands to the west. The beach is well maintained, with lifeguards in summer, and has pedalo and sunbed hire along most of its length.

The western end of the beach, near the lighthouse, is slightly quieter than the central stretch. The eastern end blends into La Caleta de Vélez and becomes more working-port in character. In summer the beach fills up with Spanish families; in June and September it is noticeably quieter, and the water temperature (around 22–24°C in peak season) makes it very swimmable.
