South Tenerife resort town with fishing-village roots, a working port, and sheltered beaches.
Los Cristianos began as a fishing village and still has a little more everyday texture than neighbouring Playa de las Américas, though the two now run together along the south Tenerife coast. It is a resort, certainly, but one with a working port, ferry passengers, older streets, and a proper town centre behind the beach.
The main appeal is convenience with a slightly gentler edge. Playa de Los Cristianos is sheltered by the harbour, Playa de Las Vistas is broader and sandier, and Montaña Chayofita gives a quick volcanic viewpoint between the resorts.
Los Cristianos is also the practical gateway to La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma by ferry. That makes it a good base if you want south-coast sun but plan to escape Tenerife's busiest resort strip for at least a day.

Day Trips
La Gomera is the classic day trip from Los Cristianos, though it deserves more than a day if you can spare one. On Tenerife itself, Teide National Park, Masca, Los Gigantes, and the quieter beaches west of town are all within reach by tour, car, or a patient approach to buses.

Getting There
Tenerife South Airport is about 20 minutes away by taxi, and airport buses stop in or near Los Cristianos. Local buses link the town with Las Américas, Costa Adeje, Playa San Juan, Los Gigantes, and Santa Cruz.
The ferry terminal is central. Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas run services from Los Cristianos to La Gomera, and there are also connections to other western Canary Islands depending on the route and season.
