Tällberg

Dalarna village above Lake Siljan, known for red timber houses and midsummer tradition.

Tällberg is a small Dalarna village on the slope above Lake Siljan, between Leksand and Rättvik. It is not a place of major monuments. Its value is more local and atmospheric: red timber houses, lake views, craft shops, old farm buildings, and a strong midsummer tradition in one of Sweden's most self-consciously traditional regions.

The village works best if you are already travelling around the Siljan area. It gives that wider region a neat, walkable focus, with Holens Gammelgård at the top of the village and short nature reserves on the edges. The built-up centre is small, but the views over Siljan keep opening between houses and lanes.

Tällberg is worth a spare half-day in summer, and more if you are here around midsummer, when the maypole celebrations pull visitors from across Sweden. Outside that season it is quieter and more selective: come for the Dalarna setting and village texture, not for a packed sightseeing list.
