Domtrappkällaren

Vaulted cellar restaurant beside the cathedral, serving Swedish classics

Domtrappkällaren sits in a medieval vaulted cellar directly across from the south porch of Uppsala Cathedral and has been serving food in some form since the 1960s. The kitchen leans on traditional Swedish cooking — game in autumn, herring and pickled fish at Christmas, the classic toast Skagen as a starter — with serious wine pairings and prices to match.

It is one of the few places in Uppsala that takes itself seriously as a fine-dining destination, and reservations are essential at weekends. The setting is the main draw: low stone arches, candlelit tables, and a sense of dining inside a piece of cathedral history.

On Sankt Eriks gränd. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
