Saluhallen is the central food hall of Uppsala, housed in a small brick building on Sankt Eriks torg, between the cathedral and the river. Inside, a handful of stalls sell fish, cheese, charcuterie, and bakery items, and several of them double as lunch counters during the day.
The pick for a quick sit-down meal is the fish counter run by Hambergs, which serves classic Swedish fish soup, gravlax, and herring plates from late morning to early afternoon. Other stalls offer Vietnamese pho, sourdough sandwiches, and Swedish charcuterie. Prices are reasonable by Uppsala standards.
The hall is open weekdays and Saturday daytimes; closed Sundays. Good for an early lunch before continuing on to the cathedral or castle.
