Jardin Anglais

Lakefront park on the right bank, home to the Flower Clock and lake views

The Jardin Anglais is the main public garden on the right bank of the Rhône, running along the lakefront between the Pont du Mont-Blanc and the Eaux-Vives quarter. It was laid out in the 1850s in the English landscape style (hence the name), and now serves mainly as a transit point and photo stop for the Horloge Fleurie (Flower Clock) embedded in its lawn.

The garden is pleasant enough without being exceptional: lawns, trees, and a good view across the lake toward the Jet d'Eau and the Vieille Ville on the left bank. The Brasserie du Parc — a terrace café at the eastern end — does reliable lunches. For a lakeside walk, continue east along the Quai Gustave-Ador past the boat hire and the pétanque courts. On summer evenings the waterfront fills with joggers, cyclists, and people simply sitting on the grass watching the light change over the Alps.
