The Salève cable car climbs from the French border village of Étrembières to the ridge that rises above Geneva. On a clear day the view takes in the city, Lake Geneva, the Jura, and Mont Blanc, with walking trails continuing along the top.
It is a good half-day escape when the weather is clear. Bring your passport, because the lower station is in France, and check operating times before setting out.
