Gotschnagrat

The Gotschnagrat is the mountain ridge that rises directly above Klosters, accessible by gondola from the village centre and serving as the main gateway into the joint Davos–Klosters ski area. In winter it gives access to the Parsenn descent — a classic long run back into the village that has been attracting skiers since the 1930s, when it was first prepared as a serious ski route. The mountains on this side of the ridge face north, keeping the snow in good condition well into spring.

In summer the cable car operates for hikers and mountain bikers, and the area around the Gotschnagrat offers panoramic views across the Prättigau valley to the Silvretta peaks to the south. The ridge itself is a well-worn waypoint on multi-day trails connecting Klosters to the larger Graubünden trail network.

A story
The Gotschnagrat summit at 2,285 metres connects Klosters directly to the Davos ski area via the Parsenn region, one of Switzerland's largest ski networks. In winter the Gotschna gondola lifts from the village centre to the ridge in minutes. In summer, the same cable car runs for hikers, giving a fast escape onto high pastures where the only sounds are cowbells and wind.
