A quiet square on a low hill above the Limmat, the Lindenhof sits on the site of a Roman fort and customs post that guarded the river crossing. Today it is one of Zurich's most pleasant spots to pause — locals play giant chess here, and the view stretches across the river to Grossmünster and the old town rooftops.
There are no buildings on the plateau itself, just benches, linden trees, and that view. It is an easy walk from Bahnhofstrasse or the Lindenhofstrasse steps from the river bank.
