Pavillon Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier's last building — a small steel-and-glass pavilion on the lakeshore

The Pavillon Le Corbusier — sometimes called the Heidi Weber Museum after its commissioner — is the last completed building by the Franco-Swiss modernist Le Corbusier, finished in 1967, two years after his death. It sits in the Seefeldquai park on the eastern lakeshore, a small structure of brightly enamelled steel panels and glass under a separate floating roof.

Inside, the rooms (small, intricate, with one of Le Corbusier's signature internal ramps) host rotating exhibitions on the architect's work — drawings, models, furniture, paintings. The building itself is the main exhibit, though, demonstrating his late-period vocabulary of standardised steel modules and pure colour. Open seasonally — broadly May through November — and worth the half-hour walk along the lakefront from Bellevue.
