Schanzengraben is a narrow canal and walkway that follows part of Zurich's former city fortifications between the Limmat and the Sihl. From near the main station, steps lead down to a quiet path beside the water.
The walk is short, central, and low-key, but it gives a good sense of the old defensive line while linking the station area with the lake.
