About two kilometres south-west of the centre, the City Lake is a long artificial pond ringed by a popular park. Joggers, families with prams, students with takeaway coffee — this is where Ivano-Frankivsk goes for fresh air at weekends. Pedalo and paddle-board rental in summer; a few cafés on the south bank.
It is also where you'll find the city's main Christmas tree and ice rink in winter. From the Rynok it's about a 25-minute walk, mostly along leafy streets, or a quick marshrutka ride from the centre.
