The Stanislav Fortress Compound preserves traces of the old fortified city that became Ivano-Frankivsk. The original fortification was laid out as a regular hexagon with bastions, redoubts, and defensive works around the town.
Only fragments remain, so come for the city history rather than intact ramparts. It is best understood together with the nearby market square, churches, and museums that grew within the old fortified core.
