Deepdale

Deepdale, just under a mile north of the city centre, is the heart of Preston's South Asian community — Gujarati and Punjabi families have lived here since the 1960s and the area is the engine of the city's restaurant scene. The main artery, Plungington Road, is lined with sari shops, jewellers, halal butchers, and a steady run of curry houses, biryani specialists, and Pakistani charcoal grills.

Deepdale is also the home of Preston North End F.C. — one of the founder members of the English Football League in 1888, and the only side to have gone an entire league season undefeated until Arsenal repeated the feat in 2004. The stadium, on Sir Tom Finney Way, is open for tours.
