The Sessions House on Harris Street is the grand baroque courthouse next door to the Harris — completed in 1903 to a design by Henry Littler, with a vast Portland stone facade modelled on Wren's St Paul's. The interior was used for criminal trials until 2017 and is now part-empty, awaiting a new use; the exterior remains one of the most architecturally ambitious courthouses outside London.
Worth a circuit on foot for the carvings and the entrance portico. The neighbouring square is being reworked as part of the same regeneration that revamped Market Square.
