When to Go

Leeds has a temperate maritime climate with cool winters and mild summers. Rain is spread fairly evenly throughout the year, so pack a waterproof whenever you visit. Summer (June to August) is the most pleasant time, with long daylight hours and temperatures around 15 to 22 degrees Celsius.

The Leeds Festival, held at Bramham Park over the August bank holiday weekend, is the city's biggest annual event and one of the major music festivals in northern England. Throughout the year, the city hosts the Leeds International Film Festival in November and the Leeds West Indian Carnival in August, the longest-running Caribbean carnival in Europe.
