Things to Do

Leeds has a strong museum and cultural offer for a city of its size, and much of it is free. The Royal Armouries and the Thackray Museum of Medicine are both of national standing. The Leeds Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute, which connects to it, represent the city's strong tradition in sculpture. Away from the museums, the Victorian buildings are the main draw: Kirkstall Abbey, the Victorian Arcades, and the Corn Exchange are all worth lingering in. Kirkgate Market and Roundhay Park round out the picture — the market for a sense of everyday Leeds, the park for scale and green space.
