Museum of the University of St Andrews

Free university museum on The Scores, with a roof terrace view

Address 7a The Scores

The Museum of the University of St Andrews — MUSA — opened in 2008 in a converted seafront building on The Scores, around the corner from the castle. The collection is small but well chosen: medieval mace heads of the colleges, scientific instruments, classical antiquities, and modern Scottish art.

The hidden draw is the rooftop terrace, free and open to anyone, which gives a panoramic view across the West Sands and the Old Course. The museum is free, opens daily, and makes a good 30-minute pause between the castle and the cathedral.
