Aldershot

Western Burlington neighbourhood between the city and Hamilton, home to the Royal Botanical Gardens

Aldershot is the historically separate community at the western end of Burlington — a former village that was amalgamated into the city in 1958 but kept its own identity. It runs along Plains Road West, the main commercial spine, and includes the Royal Botanical Gardens visitor centre, LaSalle Park, the Aldershot GO train station, and a tight grid of older residential streets.

For visitors, Aldershot's interest is mostly as the gateway to the botanical gardens and a starting point for the western waterfront trail. There are a handful of independent restaurants along Plains Road and the area has slowly been redeveloped with mid-rise apartment buildings around the GO station since the 2010s.
