1837 Georgian farmhouse, the Ireland family home for four generations

Ireland House Museum is a stone Georgian farmhouse built in 1837 by Joseph Ireland, an Irish immigrant who took up a 200-acre land grant in what was then rural Nelson Township. The house remained in the Ireland family for four generations and was donated to the City of Burlington in 1985, complete with original furnishings, papers and family belongings going back to the original build.

The interpreted house presents 1830s–1920s domestic life across the four generations of occupants. The grounds include a heritage rose garden and a barn used for occasional public events. Open afternoons Wednesday to Sunday in summer, with reduced winter hours.
