Canadian War Museum

Canada's national military history museum on the river

Canada's national museum of military history, housed in a striking earth-and-copper Moriyama-designed building on the south bank of the Ottawa River. The collection runs from First Nations conflict and the colonial wars through both World Wars, Korea, and modern peacekeeping missions. Highlights include Hitler's armoured Mercedes-Benz parade car, a full Sherman tank, and the haunting Regeneration Hall — angled so that the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill is visible through the far window. Allow at least two hours.
