A Beaches institution on Queen Street East, serving Chinese-Canadian and diner food since the 1950s. It is known to everyone in the neighbourhood as "the Goof" — for years the vertical neon sign read "Good Food" with a burnt-out letter, and the nickname stuck so firmly that the restaurant now embraces it.
The menu is unpretentious and cheap: egg rolls, chicken balls, club sandwiches, all-day breakfast, served in worn booths by long-tenured staff. Nobody comes for refinement; they come for the comfort food, the prices, and the sense of a place that has not changed in decades. It is a genuine piece of old Beaches.
