The most famous restaurant in Yorkville, set in a row of converted Victorian houses on Cumberland Street with a bright, plant-filled dining room and a much-coveted patio. It has been a society fixture for decades and is at its most frenetic during the Toronto International Film Festival each September, when it becomes a prime spot for celebrity-watching.
The food is upscale French-Canadian — steaks, seafood, a strong brunch — and you are paying as much for the scene and the location as for the cooking. Book ahead, especially in festival season. A fire gutted the building in 2017, but it was rebuilt and reopened in the same spot.
