Hôtel-Dieu

Hôtel-Dieu is one of the oldest hospital sites in North America, founded in 1639 by the Augustines de la Miséricorde de Jésus. It still belongs to Québec City's old institutional landscape, close to the fortifications and the religious buildings that shaped the early colony.

It is best treated as a historic sight rather than a museum stop: pause for the architecture, the age of the place, and the reminder that health care, religion, and colonial administration were tightly linked in early Québec.
