The Hotel Saskatchewan is a 1927 CPR Château-style hotel overlooking Victoria Park, and it is the most significant piece of pre-war architecture in downtown Regina. The building underwent a major renovation in 2017-2018 that restored the original limestone exterior and redesigned the interior with considerably more sensitivity than many hotel renovations manage — the grand lobby, the ballroom, and the rooftop terrace all retain the proportion and material quality that the original architects intended.
Even if you are not staying here, the lobby bar is worth visiting: a comfortable space with high ceilings, good cocktails at Saskatchewan prices, and a view through large windows onto Victoria Park. The hotel hosts a proper afternoon tea on weekends that draws both tourists and Regina residents looking for a special occasion option. The rooftop terrace has the best view of the downtown skyline available to the public without climbing anything.
