Dzibilchaltun is one of the easiest Maya archaeological sites to reach from Merida, yet it feels very different from the city's plazas and mansions. The Temple of the Seven Dolls is the signature structure, famous for its equinox alignment, and the site also has a cenote.
It is not as dramatic as Uxmal or Chichen Itza, but it is much simpler to visit and gives useful context for northern Yucatan history. Go early for heat, light, and a quieter experience.
