Ermita de Santa Isabel marks the older southern edge of colonial Merida, where the road once continued toward Campeche. The chapel is small, but its scale is exactly what makes it attractive: pale walls, a simple facade, and a shady neighbourhood park rather than the ceremony of the Plaza Grande.
It is best visited as part of a walk through Merida's quieter barrios, not as a single cross-town errand. The surrounding streets give you a better sense of everyday Yucatecan city life than the polished central squares, and the chapel adds a clear historical anchor to that wander.
