The Modelo Museum of Science and Industry, on the eastern edge of the historic centre, is housed in part of the old Cervecería Modelo brewery. Modelo — the maker of Corona — was founded in Toluca in 1925 and the building is itself a piece of industrial history. The displays cover the science of brewing, the history of the company, and a broader sweep of Mexican industrial design and innovation.
It is more interesting than it sounds, with hands-on exhibits and well-curated rooms on early machinery, advertising, and packaging design. Particularly good for families with school-age children. The brewery itself still operates next door.
