Boaco's nightlife is low-key. There are a handful of bars near the central park and along the main commercial street that fill up on weekend evenings with locals. Most serve beer — Toña and Victoria are the ubiquitous Nicaraguan brands — and rum by the glass or bottle. The atmosphere is informal and not oriented toward visitors.
Coffee is taken seriously in highland Nicaragua. Small cafés near the market serve strong, locally grown coffee in the mornings. Do not expect espresso — the standard is filtered black coffee, often quite sweet.
