Eating Out in Boaco

Boaco is cattle country, and the food reflects it. Grilled beef and hearty stews are the staples, often served with rice, beans, and fresh cheese from the surrounding dairy farms. The city is not set up for tourism, so restaurants are plainly furnished and unpretentious — the standard is honest provincial cooking rather than anything elaborate.

The central market area has the most concentrated eating options, with comedores serving inexpensive set lunches. In the evenings, food vendors set up around the central park selling grilled meats, tajadas, and drinks. There are no international restaurants to speak of.
