The University of Arizona campus and the streets around it form a distinct neighbourhood east of downtown — leafy, sometimes raucous, full of cafés, bookshops, taquerías and student bars. Old Main and the original 1891 Saguaro Cactus garden are the heart of the campus; the giant brick Bear Down Gym and McKale Center for college basketball pull in crowds when the Wildcats are playing.
The Center for Creative Photography, the Arizona State Museum, the Arizona Historical Society Museum, the UA Museum of Art and Flandrau Science Center cluster on or near the campus. A streetcar connects the university to downtown along University Boulevard and Fourth Avenue.
