Two municipal championship courses on the north side of town — Firecliff and Mountain View — that consistently rank among the best public-access golf in the desert. The layouts are by Hurdzan, Fry, and John Cook; the conditioning is good year-round; and unlike many of the valley's private clubs, anyone can book a tee time.
The clubhouse restaurant is a credible breakfast and lunch spot in its own right, with terrace seating overlooking the eighteenth green and the Santa Rosa Mountains. Rates drop sharply through the summer months. Address: 38995 Desert Willow Drive.
