Stanford's tallest building and the campus's main viewpoint, finished in 1941 to mark the university's 50th anniversary. The tower houses part of the Hoover Institution archives — Herbert Hoover graduated in the inaugural class of 1895 — and rings a 35-bell carillon on the hour.
A small museum on the ground floor covers Hoover's career as engineer, food administrator, and 31st US president. Take the elevator to the top for a panorama across campus to the Bay; on clear winter mornings you can see all the way to the Marin headlands.
