Rodin Sculpture Garden

Twenty Rodin bronzes on an open lawn, free and always open

A small lawn outside the Cantor Arts Center holding the largest collection of Rodin bronzes outside the Musée Rodin in Paris. The pieces include The Thinker, the Burghers of Calais, and the looming Gates of Hell — a casting of Rodin's career-long project depicting Dante's Inferno, packed with the figures Rodin would later spin out as individual works.

Free, unfenced, always open. Late afternoon light on the bronze is the best time to visit. The collection came together in the 1980s through a single donation from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation; Mr Cantor was a Stanford alumnus who bought more Rodin than any other private collector in history.
