Amistad Memorial

The Amistad Memorial is a 14-foot bronze sculpture of Sengbe Pieh, also known as Joseph Cinque, who led the 1839 revolt aboard La Amistad. It commemorates the Mende captives and the court case that followed.

The memorial stands by New Haven City Hall, near the place where the captives were held during their trial.
