Palm Harbor sits north of Clearwater on the quieter side of Pinellas County, close to Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, and the Gulf barrier islands. It is suburban and spread out, but not without character: old village pockets, live oaks, bayou water, golf courses, and easy access to some of the better parks on the county's north coast.
This is not the place for a classic beach-strip holiday. Stay here if you want a calmer base within reach of Honeymoon Island, Clearwater Beach, and Tarpon Springs without sleeping in the thick of the crowds. Wall Springs Park is the local nature highlight, while Lake Tarpon gives the area freshwater fishing and paddling that the beach towns lack.
Palm Harbor's old waterfront communities, Ozona and Crystal Beach, are small but worth a slow look if you like Gulf Coast backroads. In winter and spring the area fills with snowbirds and golfers, especially around Innisbrook, so book early if you are coming for tournament week or peak beach season.
