Midtown stretches from Ponce de Leon Avenue north to about 17th Street, between the highway and Piedmont Park. It is Atlanta's main cultural district — the High Museum, the Fox Theatre, the Center for Puppetry Arts, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Margaret Mitchell House, all sit within walking distance of each other.
Midtown is also the centre of the city's gay community and has the highest density of bars, restaurants, and small theatres in Atlanta outside Buckhead. The streets are walkable, the MARTA serves the neighbourhood well, and the BeltLine's Eastside Trail runs along its eastern edge.
