The DeKalb History Center occupies the old DeKalb County Courthouse on Decatur Square, a handsome civic building that anchors one of metro Atlanta's best walking districts. Exhibits cover local history, genealogy, and the changing suburbs east of Atlanta, while the surrounding square gives the visit more life than a standalone museum would have.
It works best as part of a Decatur outing: see the courthouse, walk the square, then continue to nearby restaurants, bookshops, and the small historic complex on West Trinity Place.
