Built in 1896, Holy Trinity is the oldest Catholic parish in Shreveport and one of the most striking buildings downtown — Romanesque revival in red brick, with a 165-foot bell tower that still dominates the surrounding blocks. The interior has stained glass imported from Munich and a hand-carved Italian altar.
The church takes a particular pride in its survival of the 1873 yellow fever epidemic, when five priests in succession died caring for parishioners. They are commemorated as the "Shreveport Martyrs."
