Long–Allen Bridge

The Texas Street Bridge between Shreveport and Bossier City is named for two Louisiana governors — Huey Long and his successor Oscar K. Allen. The 1934 truss bridge is unremarkable by day but spectacular at night, when it is outlined in coloured neon that changes by the hour.

Walk it from the Shreveport side at dusk and turn back for the city skyline against the river. The casino lights along the bank make for a postcard view.
