Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary protects wetlands, meadows, and river-edge habitat just outside Pittsfield's centre. It is a gentle outdoor stop rather than a marquee Berkshire attraction, but the birdlife and open paths make it a good reset between museums and theatre.
The sanctuary works best for a quiet walk, especially in migration seasons or early in the day. Bring binoculars if you have them, stay on marked trails, and expect nature close to town rather than wilderness.
