The Boulders Reserve protects a large tract of Berkshire woodland between Dalton, Pittsfield, and Lanesborough. Trails wind through forest and glacial boulder fields, with a Dalton access point on Gulf Road near the Appalachian Trail parking area.
It is a good choice when you want a quieter walk than the main state-forest routes, but still want proper woods rather than a town park. Bring sturdy shoes; the appeal is in the trails rather than built facilities.
